Ingredients

Coffee Base
  • 2 tablespoons Freshly ground medium roast coffee Per 6 ounces of water
Flavoring
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons Hazelnut syrup Start small and adjust to taste
  • 1 pinch Salt Optional but enhances balance
Optional Additions
  • Milk or creamy milk alternative If desired
  • Ice For iced drinks

Method

Preparation
  1. Brew coffee as usual.
  2. For hot coffee, stir in 1 to 2 teaspoons of hazelnut syrup per 8 to 10 ounces of coffee, then taste and add more if needed.
  3. For French press, use a 1 to 15 ratio of coffee to water. Steep for 4 minutes, plunge, then flavor lightly.
  4. For iced coffee, brew double strength, pour over ice, and add flavor.
  5. For cold brew, follow a guide to make cold brew coffee; add hazelnut syrup to the concentrate and top with cold water or milk.
  6. For shaken coffee, combine brewed coffee, a little syrup, and ice in a jar, and shake for 10 seconds.

Notes

Use flavored beans or homemade hazelnut infusion if avoiding syrup. Sweetness is best kept light to allow the nutty aroma to shine.
