Preparation
- Chill your glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes.
- In a mixing glass, add gin, sweet vermouth, Campari, and blood orange juice (or grenadine).
- Add plenty of ice to the mixing glass. Stir for 20–30 seconds until well chilled.
- Strain the mix into a rocks glass filled with one large ice cube or fresh ice.
- Express an orange peel over the glass by pinching it to release oils, then run it around the rim and drop the peel in. Add a blood orange wheel if you like.
- For a lighter option, top with a splash of soda water and stir gently.
Notes
For good flavor balance, serve the cocktail with high-protein foods. This drink can also be made in batches for parties.
