Ingredients
  

For the Tea
  • 4 cups Water For boiling
  • 4 tablespoons Thai tea mix or strong black tea
  • 4 tablespoons Sugar Adjust according to your preference
  • 4 pieces Star anises
  • 1 piece Crushed cardamom pod (optional)
For Serving
  • 1/2 cup Evaporated milk, coconut milk, or half-and-half
  • Ice cubes Ice cubes For serving

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Bring the water to a boil in a pot.
  2. Turn off the heat and add the Thai tea mix, star anise, and cardamom pod.
  3. Let the mixture steep for 3 to 5 minutes, depending on how strong you like your tea.
  4. Stir in the sugar until it is completely dissolved.
  5. Strain out the tea leaves and spices, discarding the solids.
  6. Let the tea cool to room temperature. After that, chill it in the refrigerator until it’s cold.
Serving
  1. Fill glasses with ice cubes.
  2. Pour the chilled tea over the ice, leaving enough room at the top for the milk.
  3. Slowly pour the evaporated milk, coconut milk, or half-and-half over the tea, allowing it to form a distinct layer.
  4. Serve the Thai Iced Tea with a straw and give it a stir before drinking!

Notes

Thai Iced Tea is best served cold. You can present it in tall glasses for enhanced visual appeal. Garnishing with a slice of lime or mint leaves is optional. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
