Ingredients
  

Doughnut Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup sour cream You may substitute with Greek yogurt.
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Glaze Ingredients
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons sour cream Use more or less for desired consistency.
  • Flavorings (chocolate, strawberry, or vanilla) Add as desired for glaze.

Method
 

Mixing the Dough
  1. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, mix sugar and eggs until light and fluffy.
  3. Add sour cream, milk, and vanilla to the egg mixture and combine.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until just combined.
Cutting and Frying
  1. Roll out the dough to about 1/2 inch thick and cut doughnuts using a doughnut cutter.
  2. Heat oil in a deep fryer or deep pan to 375°F (190°C).
  3. Fry doughnuts for about 1-2 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  4. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Making the Glaze
  1. In a bowl, mix powdered sugar with sour cream and desired flavoring.
  2. Dip warm doughnuts in glaze and let set before serving.

Notes

Serve doughnuts warm for the best texture. For a healthier pairing, serve with fresh berries or Greek yogurt.
