Ingredients

Dough Ingredients
  • 2 cups durum flour
  • 1 cup warm water should be around 110°F (43°C)
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil for brushing
Filling Ingredients
  • 8 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 head garlic roasted
  • 1 tablespoon herbs de Provence

Method

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, mix the durum flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and knead until a smooth dough forms.
  3. Let the dough rise in a warm place for about 2 hours, or until it doubles in size.
  4. Meanwhile, mix the cream cheese, Parmesan, roasted garlic, and herbs de Provence in a bowl.
Baking
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut it into circles.
  3. Layer the filling in between the circles and stack them. Cut them into a spiral shape to create the sunburst effect.
  4. Brush the top with olive oil.
  5. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Store the bread in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days or freeze slices for up to 2 months. Reheat slices at 350°F (175°C) for 5-10 minutes.
