Ingredients
  

Dough Ingredients
  • 1 cup milk powder
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 tablespoons ghee or unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup milk
Syrup Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon rose water
  • 2-3 pieces crushed cardamom pods
  • a pinch saffron
For Frying
  • as needed cups oil for frying
Flavoring
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, mix the milk powder, flour, and baking soda together.
  2. Add the melted ghee and combine well.
  3. Gradually add the milk and knead into a soft dough.
  4. Divide the dough into small balls.
Cooking
  1. Heat oil in a deep pan and fry the balls on low heat until they turn golden brown.
  2. In another pot, combine the sugar, water, and crushed cardamom. Boil this mixture to create a syrup.
  3. Once boiled, add rose water and saffron.
  4. Soak the fried balls in the warm sugar syrup for at least 2 hours before serving.

Notes

For portion control, serve one or two dumplings paired with fresh fruit or light yogurt dip. These dumplings can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week or frozen for three months. Thaw and re-soak in syrup before serving.
