  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning blend
  • 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups vegetable broth
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 8 oz freshly shredded Parmesan cheese
  • Kosher salt and fresh cracked black pepper to taste

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Melt butter in a large sauté pan over medium-low heat.
  2. Sauté minced garlic and Italian seasoning for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Sprinkle in flour and whisk to combine; cook for another minute.
  4. Gradually add vegetable broth while whisking to avoid lumps.
  5. Simmer gently for about 2 minutes until thickened.
  6. Stir in heavy cream and Parmesan cheese until smooth.
  7. Adjust consistency with additional cooking time if needed.
  8. Season to taste and serve warm.

Notes

Store the sauce in an airtight container in the fridge for up to four days. Reheat slowly and whisk it smooth. Freezing is not ideal due to potential texture changes.
