Preparation
- In a large mixing bowl, add the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Use a whisk to combine them well.
- In another bowl, mix the milk, egg, and melted butter. Stir until everything is blended.
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture. Stir gently until combined. The batter may be lumpy, which is okay.
- Add the pink food coloring or beet juice. Mix until you reach your desired shade of pink.
Cooking
- Place your non-stick frying pan or griddle on medium heat. If you are using a heart-shaped mold, place it in the pan.
- Lightly spray the pan or mold with cooking spray or add a small amount of butter to prevent sticking.
- Using a ladle or measuring cup, pour the batter into the mold or directly onto the pan. If you are making hearts, fill the mold only halfway to allow space for the pancake to expand.
- Cook for about 2-3 minutes, or until bubbles form on the surface. Carefully flip the pancake using a spatula. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
- Remove the pancake from the pan and continue making the rest. Repeat the process until all the batter is cooked.
- Stack the heart-shaped pancakes on a plate and enjoy!
Notes
Serve with warm syrup, whipped cream, or fresh fruits. For extra sweetness, sprinkle powdered sugar on top. You can also add chocolate chips or nuts to the pancakes for more flavor.
