  • 2 pieces ripe pineapples, peeled and chopped Make sure your pineapples are ripe and sweet.
  • 2-4 pieces habanero peppers, chopped Adjust for heat preference; use fewer for a milder sauce.
  • 1/2 cup white vinegar The acid that helps the sauce last and adds brightness.
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar Adds a soft, deep sweet flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a blender, combine the chopped pineapples, habanero peppers, vinegar, and water. Blend until smooth.
  2. Pour the mixture into a saucepan and add brown sugar, salt, and garlic powder.
Cooking
  1. Bring the sauce to a simmer over medium heat and cook for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  2. Remove from heat and let it cool.
  3. Once cooled, transfer to a bottle or jar and refrigerate.

Notes

Wear gloves when handling habanero peppers and wash your hands and tools afterward. The flavors blend and mellow after a day in the fridge. Can be frozen for longer storage.
