Preparation
- Measure all spices.
- Optional: Dry-toast the mustard seed, allspice, and coriander in a skillet over medium heat for 1 to 2 minutes, shaking the pan to prevent burning.
- Cool the toasted spices on a plate for a few minutes.
- If desired, lightly crush the seeds and cinnamon stick using a spice grinder or mortar and pestle.
- Mix all the ingredients in a small bowl until evenly combined.
- Combine the ingredients and store in an airtight jar or container.
Notes
Store your Pickling Spice Mix in an airtight jar in a cool, dark place. It will stay fresh for 6 to 12 months. Freezing is not recommended as it can reduce flavor.
