  1. In a small saucepan, add the water or brewed coffee, sugar, and cocoa powder.
  2. Whisk the mixture thoroughly until the cocoa powder is fully combined.
  3. Place the saucepan on medium heat and bring to a simmer, whisking occasionally to avoid sticking.
  4. Once it simmers, remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Allow the sauce to cool for about 10 minutes.
  6. Transfer to a clean jar or airtight container and refrigerate for up to one week.
