Ingredients

For the Mexican Mocha
  • 1 cup milk of choice (whole milk recommended)
  • 3 tbsp mocha sauce Store-bought or homemade
  • 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon
  • tsp nutmeg
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper (optional) For added spice
  • 2 oz espresso (or 8 oz brewed coffee)

Method

Preparation
  1. Prepare your ingredients by measuring them out.
  2. In a small saucepan, combine the milk, mocha sauce, unsweetened cocoa powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cayenne pepper if desired.
  3. Place the saucepan over medium-low heat. Heat the mixture, whisking frequently until smooth.
  4. Once the mixture is hot and well combined, take it off the heat and froth it using a milk frother or whisk.
  5. Brew your espresso or coffee into a mug.
  6. Pour the frothed milk mixture over the brewed coffee or espresso.
  7. Give it a gentle stir, and enjoy your Mexican Mocha warm.

Notes

Consider adding whipped cream on top, pair with a sweet pastry, or serve iced. Leftovers can be refrigerated for about 2 days and reheated gently. Frothing again may require a quick froth before serving.
