Ingredients
  

For the chai concentrate
  • 4 cups water Use filtered water for best flavor.
  • 4 teabags black tea bags (or 4 tablespoons loose black tea) Assam or Darjeeling tea works well.
  • 1 cup milk (or a non-dairy alternative) Almond milk, soy milk, or oat milk can be used.
  • 1/2 cup sugar Adjust to taste.
  • 1 stick cinnamon Use whole for better flavor infusion.
  • 4 whole green cardamom pods Lightly crushed.
  • 4 whole cloves Whole cloves add a richer flavor.
  • 1 inch fresh ginger, sliced Adjust the amount based on your preference.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a saucepan, bring the water to a boil.
  2. Add the tea bags (or loose tea) and the spices (cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, and ginger).
  3. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 15 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat, strain the mixture, and stir in the sugar until dissolved.
  5. Allow the concentrate to cool before storing it in the refrigerator.
Serving
  1. Mix equal parts of concentrate and milk (or a non-dairy alternative), heating it before serving.

Notes

Store in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze in ice cube trays and transfer to a freezer-safe bag once solid.
