  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup for glaze

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a doughnut pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Gently fold in crumbled bacon.
Baking
  1. Spoon the batter into the prepared doughnut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.
  2. Bake for 15 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  3. Allow cooling in the pan for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
Glazing
  1. To make the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar and maple syrup until smooth.
  2. Dip the tops of the cooled doughnuts in the glaze, letting any excess drip off, and place back on the wire rack to set.

Notes

For a healthier version, consider using whole wheat flour and reducing the sugar. Serve with a high-protein side like Greek yogurt for a balanced snack. Store in an airtight container for up to 2 days at room temperature or refrigerate for up to 5 days.
