Ingredients

For the Mango Puree
  • 1 large ripe mango (about 1 to 1 1/4 cups mango puree)
  • 2 tbsp water to help blend the mango
For Each Drink
  • 2 oz silver tequila
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 oz orange liqueur (optional)
  • 1/2 to 1 tsp sugar or stevia (to taste, use less for low calorie)
  • 1/2 cup water or soda water (for lighter option)
  • Ice Ice
  • Salt or chili-lime salt for rim (optional)
  • Lime wheels or mango slices for garnish

Method

Preparation
  1. Peel and cube the mango. Place the cubes in a blender. Add 2 tablespoons of water to help blend. Blend until smooth. Push the puree through a fine mesh sieve if a very smooth drink is desired.
Mixing
  1. In a shaker, add 2 oz mango puree, 2 oz tequila, 1 oz lime juice, and 1/2 oz orange liqueur if using. Add sweetener to taste. For a lighter option, add 1 oz soda water instead of orange liqueur.
  2. Fill the shaker with ice. Shake hard for 10–15 seconds.
Serving
  1. Run a lime wedge around the glass rim and dip in salt or chili-lime salt if desired. Add fresh ice to the glass.
  2. Strain the margarita into the glass. Top with a splash of soda water if you want fizz. Garnish with a mango slice or lime wheel.
  3. Serve at once and enjoy.

Notes

For a diabetic-friendly or low-carb version, use a no-calorie sweetener like erythritol or stevia and water or soda instead of sugary mixes. Mango provides natural sweetness and fiber, which helps slow sugar rise.
