Preparation
- Peel and cube the mango. Place the cubes in a blender. Add 2 tablespoons of water to help blend. Blend until smooth. Push the puree through a fine mesh sieve if a very smooth drink is desired.
Mixing
- In a shaker, add 2 oz mango puree, 2 oz tequila, 1 oz lime juice, and 1/2 oz orange liqueur if using. Add sweetener to taste. For a lighter option, add 1 oz soda water instead of orange liqueur.
- Fill the shaker with ice. Shake hard for 10–15 seconds.
Serving
- Run a lime wedge around the glass rim and dip in salt or chili-lime salt if desired. Add fresh ice to the glass.
- Strain the margarita into the glass. Top with a splash of soda water if you want fizz. Garnish with a mango slice or lime wheel.
- Serve at once and enjoy.
Notes
For a diabetic-friendly or low-carb version, use a no-calorie sweetener like erythritol or stevia and water or soda instead of sugary mixes. Mango provides natural sweetness and fiber, which helps slow sugar rise.
