Ingredients
  

For the Lemon Syrup
  • 130 ml lemon juice Freshly squeezed for best flavor
  • 50 g honey, maple syrup, or caster sugar Adjust to taste
For Brewing the Tea
  • 250 ml boiling water Used to steep tea bags
  • 4 bags tea bags Black tea is recommended, but any tea can be used
To Serve
  • 375 ml cold water To dilute the tea
  • 1 lemon, sliced For garnish

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the lemon juice and honey (or chosen sweetener) over medium heat. Stir and let it simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally until the sweetener dissolves.
  2. Remove the saucepan from heat and allow the lemon syrup to cool.
Brewing
  1. In a jug, place the boiling water and tea bags. Allow the tea to steep for about 20 minutes for a strong flavor.
  2. Remove the tea bags, pressing them lightly to extract all flavor.
Combining Ingredients
  1. Stir in the cooled lemon syrup into the jug with the brewed tea.
  2. Add the lemon slices and chilled water to the mixture.
Serving
  1. Serve the lemon iced tea in glasses filled with ice. Garnish with additional lemon slices if desired.

Notes

For a refreshing twist, consider adding mint leaves while brewing or fruit such as strawberries. Store any leftovers in the refrigerator for 2-3 days.
