  • 1 jar (16-ounce) dill pickle slices Ensure it's a jar of pre-sliced dill pickles.
  • 2 cups white sugar Can be adjusted for sweetness preference.
  • 6 cloves garlic, peeled Crushed garlic can enhance flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon hot pepper sauce (such as Tabasco) Add more for extra heat if desired.
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes Adjust according to your spice preference.

Preparation
  1. Combine the pickle slices and their liquid in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Stir in the white sugar until it's evenly distributed.
  3. Add the peeled garlic cloves, hot pepper sauce, and red pepper flakes to the mixture.
  4. Cover the bowl and refrigerate the mixture, stirring every few hours for about one day until the sugar has dissolved.
  5. Transfer the mixture back to the original pickle jar and seal tightly.
  6. Refrigerate the pickles for at least one day before serving.

Notes

Store in a tightly sealed jar in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 weeks. For a healthier version, use a sugar substitute.
