Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 large cantaloupe melon
  • 3/4 cup sugar or adjust for diabetic-friendly version
  • 5 cups water
  • 1 whole lime optional, for flavor

Method

Preparation
  1. Peel the cantaloupe and remove the seeds using a spoon. Cut it into large chunks.
  2. Optionally, reserve a few slices of melon and cut them into small cubes to garnish your drinks.
Blending
  1. In a blender, blend half of the cantaloupe with 2 cups of the water, the lime juice (if using), and half the sugar at high speed until smooth.
  2. Transfer the juice into a jar and repeat the process with the other half of the cantaloupe.
  3. Taste for sweetness and adjust if necessary.
  4. Refrigerate for 1 hour or longer.
Serving
  1. To serve, fill a glass with ice, pour in the agua fresca, and garnish with a chunk of cantaloupe or a mint sprig.

Notes

Store the agua fresca in a sealed jar or pitcher in the fridge for up to 3 days. You can make it diabetic-friendly by cutting the sugar or using a sugar substitute. For longer storage, freeze in ice cube trays.
