Easy Rice Krispie Baskets

Quick and sweet treats that resemble nests, made from melted marshmallows and Rice Krispies, perfect for kids and parties.

Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 5 cups marshmallows Use mini marshmallows for easier melting.
  • 4 tblsp butter Use unsalted butter for better control over saltiness.
Optional Fillings and Decorations
  • 1/2 cup sweetened shredded coconut Optional, can be colored with food dye.
  • 2-4 drops food coloring Optional, for coloring the coconut.
  • as needed jelly beans For filling the baskets.
  • as needed chocolate eggs For filling the baskets.
  • as needed candy coated chocolate eggs For filling the baskets.
  • 1/4 tsp water Optional, to help melt chocolate.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Get out and measure your ingredients.
  2. Prepare a muffin pan with butter or cooking spray. Set aside.
Cooking
  1. In a large saucepan, melt butter over low heat.
  2. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted, maintaining low heat.
  3. Remove from heat and gently stir in Rice Krispies cereal until well coated.
  4. Divide and press the mixture into individual muffin cups to create baskets.
  5. Cool and remove from muffin pans.
Assembly
  1. Fill the cooled nests with colored shredded coconut, melted chocolate, jelly beans, or chocolate eggs.
  2. Enjoy every bite!

Notes

Best if served the same day for taste and texture. Store in an airtight container for 1-2 days. Freezing is not recommended due to texture changes.
