  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until combined.
Baking
  1. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  2. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  3. Allow cookies to cool, then decorate with yellow and orange frosting or sprinkles to create a chick design.

Notes

Store cooled cookies in an airtight container for 3-4 days at room temperature. Freeze for longer storage, up to 2 months. Thaw at room temperature before serving. For the best texture, frost after thawing.
