Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
- Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, and place onto ungreased cookie sheets. Flatten each ball slightly, and sprinkle with sugar.
Baking
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden. Let cool on wire racks.
- Decorate with colorful icing and sprinkles for a festive touch.
Notes
Store cooled cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. For longer storage, freeze plain baked cookies for up to 3 months.
