Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
Decorative Ingredients
  • Colorful icing for decoration
  • Sprinkles or edible decorations

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth.
  4. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract.
  5. Gradually blend the dry ingredients into the wet mixture.
  6. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, and place onto ungreased cookie sheets.
Baking
  1. Flatten each ball with the bottom of a glass, and decorate with icing and sprinkles.
  2. Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden.
  3. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

Cookies can be frozen for up to three months. Consider serving with fresh fruit or herbal tea for a balanced treat.
