  • 2 cups Milk Can substitute with dairy-free milk.

Preparation
  1. In a saucepan, combine equal parts black cocoa powder and sugar.
  2. Gradually whisk in the milk, adding a little at a time and mixing until smooth.
  3. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring gently to avoid scalding the milk, until the cocoa is hot but not boiling.
  4. Once hot, stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Pour the dark hot cocoa into your favorite mug and enjoy!

Notes

Serve topped with whipped cream, cocoa powder, marshmallows, or shaved chocolate. A sprinkle of sea salt enhances the chocolate flavor. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days, or freeze for up to three months.
