Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 225 grams ground beef (85/15 fat content) Ensure beef is browned thoroughly.
  • 120 grams bacon, cooked and broken into pieces Crisp the bacon before adding.
  • 160 grams mushroom soup, condensed Can use cream of mushroom or any creamy soup.
  • 160 grams corn kernels Use canned or frozen corn.
  • 900 grams frozen tater tots Ensure they cover the top evenly.
  • 120 grams sharp cheddar cheese, shredded Keep half for topping.
  • 60 millilitres sour cream For creaminess.
  • 80 millilitres whole milk Can substitute with any milk of choice.
Seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder Enhances flavor.
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper Adjust to taste.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 190°C (375°F) and grease a 23x33 cm baking pan.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned.
Mixing
  1. Add corn, half of the cheddar cheese, mushroom soup, milk, black pepper, bacon, sour cream, and onion powder to the skillet. Mix well until smooth.
Assembly
  1. Pour the beef mixture into the greased pan and smooth out. Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top.
  2. Layer frozen tater tots evenly on top of the beef and cheese mixture.
Baking
  1. Bake uncovered for 40 to 45 minutes, until the tater tots are crispy and golden.
  2. Remove from oven, sprinkle with additional cheese, and return to oven for 5 more minutes until cheese is melted.

Notes

Serve hot. Pairs well with a side salad or hot sauce. For leftovers, refrigerate for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
