Preparation
- Coarsely grind your coffee beans to a consistency similar to breadcrumbs.
- Pour half of the water into a clean 32 oz mason jar and add the freshly ground coffee.
- Stir the coffee grounds and water together gently, then fill the jar with the remaining water.
- Cover the jar tightly and let it steep for 8-12 hours at room temperature or in the fridge.
Straining
- Line a second 32 oz jar with a mesh bag or cheesecloth and pour the cold brew through to separate it from the coffee grounds.
- Gently lift the mesh bag or cheesecloth and squeeze it to extract all the coffee liquid, then dispose of the leftover grounds.
Serving
- Dilute the cold brew to taste by adding about ½-1 cup more water.
- Serve over ice or store in the fridge for later use.
Notes
Cold brew can be served iced, with milk, flavored syrups, or used in cocktails. Store it in a sealed container in the fridge for up to two weeks.
