Preparation
- In a bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until bubbly.
- Mix in melted butter and egg.
- Gradually stir in flour and salt until combined. Knead the dough until smooth.
- Let the dough rise in a greased bowl for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- In a separate bowl, mix brown sugar, cinnamon, and nuts (if using).
- Roll out dough into a rectangle, sprinkle the cinnamon mixture evenly, then roll tightly.
- Place in a greased loaf pan and let rise for another 30 minutes.
Baking
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake for 45 to 50 minutes until golden brown.
- Let cool before slicing.
Notes
For a lighter version, reduce sugar or use whole grain flour. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or freeze for longer storage.
