Method
Make the Cinnamon Base
- In a small saucepan over low heat, warm brown sugar (or maple syrup) with water, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Stir until combined and steamy, about 1 minute.
- Turn off heat and stir in vanilla extract to create your cinnamon base.
Brew and Froth
- Brew 1 to 2 shots of espresso or 1/2 to 3/4 cup of strong coffee and pour it into your mug.
- Warm milk until hot but not boiling, then froth it until soft and foamy.
Assemble and Finish
- Stir the cinnamon base into the hot coffee until smooth.
- Pour in the steamed milk and spoon foam on top. Sprinkle with a little cinnamon.
- Taste and adjust sweetness as needed.
Notes
You can batch the cinnamon base for the week and refrigerate it. It stays good for about a week. Shake before using. For a chilled version, pour the cinnamon base over ice.
