Preparation
- Brew a strong pot of coffee or espresso using your preferred method.
- In a small saucepan, gently heat whole milk or cream over medium heat until hot but not boiling.
- Stir in brown sugar, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and optional ground ginger. Whisk until sugar dissolves and spices mix well.
Combine and Serve
- Pour the brewed coffee into large cups or heatproof glasses.
- Add the hot spiced milk mixture and stir well to combine everything.
- Add vanilla extract and stir in Irish cream liqueur or bourbon if desired. Adjust sweetness or spices to taste.
- Top each coffee with a generous amount of whipped cream. Dust with extra ground cinnamon and nutmeg for a festive touch.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your warm Christmas Fireside Coffee!
Notes
Best served fresh. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Whipped cream doesn’t reheat well, so make it fresh each time. Freezing is not recommended.
