- Start by adding the water, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and cocoa powder into a small saucepan.
- Turn the heat to medium and whisk the mixture continuously until everything is well combined and the sugars and cocoa powder are fully dissolved.
- Once the mixture is smooth, remove the saucepan from the heat.
- Stir in the vanilla extract to infuse that lovely cookie dough flavor.
- Allow the mixture to cool at room temperature for about 15 minutes.
- After it has cooled, transfer the syrup into a jar or syrup bottle.
- Store it in the refrigerator, where it will stay fresh for up to 2 weeks.
Notes
For a sweeter syrup, adjust the sweetness by adding more brown sugar. Customize with spices or nut flavors as desired. Store in a clean jar to avoid contamination.
