  • 1 cup water
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 ½ tsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by adding the water, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and cocoa powder into a small saucepan.
  2. Turn the heat to medium and whisk the mixture continuously until everything is well combined and the sugars and cocoa powder are fully dissolved.
  3. Once the mixture is smooth, remove the saucepan from the heat.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract to infuse that lovely cookie dough flavor.
  5. Allow the mixture to cool at room temperature for about 15 minutes.
  6. After it has cooled, transfer the syrup into a jar or syrup bottle.
  7. Store it in the refrigerator, where it will stay fresh for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

For a sweeter syrup, adjust the sweetness by adding more brown sugar. Customize with spices or nut flavors as desired. Store in a clean jar to avoid contamination.
