- In a medium-sized saucepan, add the melted butter and brown sugar. Whisk them together until well combined.
- Slowly stir in the heavy cream. Make sure everything mixes well.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a simmer, cooking for about 3 minutes.
- After 3 minutes, remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Let the butterscotch sauce cool slightly before serving or storing.
Notes
Store the sauce in a heat-safe container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. You can freeze it for 3 months as well. Reheat before using.
