Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup brown sugar Use fresh brown sugar for best results.
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract Feel free to experiment with other flavorings.

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by adding all the ingredients to a small saucepan: the brown sugar, water, and vanilla extract.
  2. Place the saucepan on the stove and turn the heat to medium. Stir occasionally with a whisk.
  3. Continue whisking until the brown sugar is completely dissolved, which should take a few minutes. Be careful not to let the mixture boil.
  4. Once the sugar is dissolved, remove the saucepan from the heat and allow the syrup to cool at room temperature.
  5. Transfer the cooled syrup to a bottle or glass container with a lid and store it in the refrigerator.

Notes

The syrup can last for up to two weeks in the refrigerator. If you notice any changes in color or smell, discard it. You can also freeze some for later use.
