Preparation
- Chill your glass or copper mug with ice or in the freezer for a few minutes.
- Juice the blood orange and lime. Strain if you prefer no pulp.
- In a shaker, add blood orange juice, lime juice, vodka, and simple syrup if using. Add a few ice cubes.
- Shake lightly for 10 seconds until well mixed and chilled.
Serving
- Fill your chilled mug or glass with fresh ice.
- Strain the cocktail into the glass over ice.
- Top with ginger beer and stir gently to combine. Taste and add more lime or a splash of simple syrup if needed.
- Garnish with a blood orange wheel and a sprig of mint.
Notes
To keep it low calorie, skip the simple syrup and use sparkling water with ginger flavor. Pair the drink with fresh fruit or a small plate of lean protein and veggies for a balanced snack. For a non-alcohol version, mix blood orange and lime juice with diet ginger beer and sparkling water.
