Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4-6 pieces fresh blackberries (or frozen, thawed) Use fresh for best flavor.
  • 1/2 inch fresh ginger, peeled and grated or thinly sliced Adjust based on preference for ginger intensity.
  • 1 oz fresh lemon juice (about half a lemon) Freshly squeezed is best.
  • 1/2 oz simple syrup For low sugar option, substitute with 1 teaspoon sugar or 1 teaspoon erythritol.
  • 2 oz vodka Choose a plain, gluten free vodka if needed.
  • Ice For shaking and serving.
  • Club soda Optional, for a lighter option.
  • Lemon wheel and extra blackberries For garnish.

Method

Preparation
  1. Wash blackberries and lemon. Peel and grate the ginger.
  2. In a shaker or jar, add blackberries and ginger. Muddle until berries break and ginger releases juices.
  3. Add lemon juice and simple syrup or sweetener. Muddle a little more to mix.
  4. Add vodka and ice. Close the shaker and shake hard for about 15 seconds.
  5. Strain into a glass with fresh ice. If you prefer more texture, skip straining and pour the whole mix.
  6. Top with a splash of club soda for a lighter option. Stir gently.
  7. Garnish with a lemon wheel and a blackberry. Serve cold.

Notes

For a lighter or diabetic-friendly drink, use erythritol or stevia syrup. For lower calorie versions, top with soda water and skip the simple syrup.
